KORGONTHURUS "Kuolleestasyntynyt" Album Review!

There's nothing like listening to a good Finnish black metal band's new album for the first time. You don't normally have to doubt if it will be chaotic and in-your-face. You don't have to worry about experimental nonsense or half-assed songwriting.

With KORGONTHURUS, they stand at the peak of pure, blasphemous black metal alongside bands like BEHEXEN or HORNA. Hell, vocalist Corvus used to be the vocalist for HORNA. So there's that. Third full-length “Kuolleestasyntynyt” picks up where 2016's "Vuohen Siunaus" left off. To even be on the same level as their prior album is a mighty achievement as it was near perfection. But goddammit it if “Kuolleestasyntynyt” doesn't melt our fucking genitalia and rip our spine right out of our goddamn torso.

First track (same as the album title) begins with atmospheric, thundering guitars, monolithic drumming and screeches that sound like the hellspawned vocals we've come to expect. 'Tuhontuoja' is fiery and destructive in its abundance of Finnish energy.  Third track 'Syyttajarnkeli' will most likely break your neck when you headbang to it, before smoothing out a little for a few seconds at a time between sweltering riffs and crunching drumming. 'Riivattu' is another fierce track that never fucking lets up, as 'Yon Lapsi' is pure mid-paced black metal that will send you into blissful convulsions. Final track 'Nox' is almost ten minutes of wrapping the album up in one glorious package.

Not enough can be said about KORGONTHURUS and their ability to create an album that defies all logic in its intensity and brilliance, and giving us the Finnish sound we can't live without. “Kuolleestasyntynyt” is sheer motherfucking perfection.
